Advisor's Letter

  • Letter from our Chapter Advisor

  • Hello Friends,

My name is Cinda Lucas and I have the privilege to serve as Chapter and Recruitment Advisor to this outstanding Gamma Phi chapter.  I had the honor to work with this chapter from their inception in 1984 and have been with them in one-way or another ever since and I truly enjoy my experience.  My job is to guide, inspire and help them make good decisions during their college years, but we also become very close.  I am their “College Mom,” and am there to help them through their trials and tribulations as collegians.  When a woman joins our organization, I meet with them personally over coffee, frozen yogurt or a meal so they can feel as if we are already friends and I won’t be a stranger to them.  This becomes the beginning of an amazingly enriching experience.  I help them achieve their dreams by challenging them to make good decisions.

I am always in attendance at Executive Board meetings and chapter meetings, but you will also find me supporting chapter members at retreats, philanthropic projects, social functions and individual events some of the members are involved in such as theatrical products, new member series or campus speakers.  Since we have no chapter house at USD, my home is also available for “Welcome Home” parties to honor the women coming back from abroad, officer retreats or even Holiday Parties with all the trimmings, or just when someone is feeling a little home sick and needs a home cooked meal and a place to sit in front of the fireplace and share ideas or just be heard.

I work with a group of 14 other advisors to help our membersachieve their personal best and to encourage them to learn from life lessons as they come their way.  The USD Gamma Phi Beta’s are the leaders on campus as well as in their local communities and campus communities.  They are constantly enriching my life and it is a real privilege and honor to work with these outstanding women whom I know will go out into the world and truly make a difference.  Thanks for joining us on line to find out more about our sisterhood and the lifelong friendships that can come your way as a member of one of the truly outstanding women’s organizations in the world and the group for which “sorority” was originally coined.

Some people come into your life and quickly go, while others come into your life and leave footprints on your heart and you are never, ever, the same again.  That is what it is like for us as Gamma Phi Beta’s at USD.  Gamma Phi Beta will be a part of your lifetime growth and networking opportunities wherever you go as a Gamma Phi member.  Should you have any questions, I can be contacted at usdgammaphibeta1@gmail.com.

I sincerely hope you enjoy your collegiate experience here at USD and enhance it even more through the leadership opportunities, close sisterhood and life enhancing experiences that come your way as a member of Gamma Phi Beta.

We look forward to getting to know you better during recruitment.
